Medicine for the quarantine

Being in quarantine is not easy. Although, there are people who are comfortable with being at home all day and don’t have any problem finding activities to entertain themselves, a lot of people is showing their frustration over this difficult situation. Truth is that most of us feel kind of worried and as days go by we find more and more difficult not to go crazy. That’s why we want to reflect with you over this three activities you could do during the quarantine.

1- Read

It may seem a cliche, but books can really be your heroes this days. Why? It’s easy. Through them you can scape from the claustrophobia of your home and explore new places. You can get lost in amazing atmospheres and forget about the actual situation. You can meet new people, you can live experiences and feel freer.

You may think “well ok, but I have never loved reading, why now?” And we obviously have an answer for that as well. It is never to late to start reading. It really is an activity that many people underestimate, but when you give it a chance, you discober how stupid you were thinking it was a waste of time.

There are many kinds of books, so that everyone can be pleased no matter your preferences. You can find different cathegories, such as novels, poetry or essays. Also, within this cathegories you can choose between mistery, romantic, action and more. You have absolutelly no excuse.

Please give it a chance! Try it and persist! You will thank us later.

“Until I feared I would lose it, I never loved to read. One does not love breathing.”
― Harper Lee, To Kill a Mockingbird

2- Draw and paint

Art.

It makes us free and gives us the power to express what can’t be expressed by words. What is art? We really can’t answer this question… as there are many different definitions. Some say it is “the expression or application of human creative skill and imagination, typically in a visual form such as painting or sculpture, producing works to be appreciated primarily for their beauty or emotional power”. Clearly, people who agree with this definition aren’t artists. These words would never split out from an artist’s mouth. They would never understand this kind of definition… So objective, so realistic, so poorly felt. Pablo Picasso exemplified what I am sayin. To him, art is the lie that enables us to realize the truth.

Art is a good companion during the quarantine. If you have never tried it, now is a good moment. You can either draw and paint something you see or like, or you can invent something based on your feelings or mood. It is like an experiment, as you will notice how art can tell a lot about its creator. It is an excellent way to know a litle more about yourself. Also, you don’t need much to do it!

3- Music

Music is a universal language. Everyone understands it differently, but it’s part of its beauty. With music you can communicate across cultural and linguistic boundaries in ways that you can’t with ordinary languages. As you may all know, every human culture has music, the same way they have language. How can music help us during the quarantine?

Learn how to play an instrument

I am sure a lot of people has an instrument at home, which they don’t know how to play or they have avandoned because of a lack of time. Now is the moment! You have the time you didn’t have before.

By learning how to play an instrument you will be distracted from the actual caos. Also, you will stop using technology and watching screens, which is very important during this days if we don’t want to go crazy. Finally, you will be able to discober a new hobby which probably will give you a lot of good moments and satisfaction once you start getting better.

Be aware of the online concerts

Also, remember many artists are organizing concerts from their homes through social media! Check your favourite artist’s schedule and enjoy their music!
